Destinations You Don’t Find In Average Travel Guide

There are so many travel destination out there that you may not be able to fully explore. As travel ban is low lifted, many countries are now open for tourists or travelers to pay a visit. With this, you should be ready with your travel destination checklist. Choosing destination is a matter of personal preference. Depending on what type a vacation you want to have, you can choose suitable destination. However, it might be the best time to start uncovering underrated travel destinations that you won’t find in average travel guide for more exciting experience.

Anguilla island, Caribbean sea

Underrated destinations for unique travel experience

Some travel destinations are considered overrated which cause various problems such as overcrowd, damage properties, etc. Hence, it might be the right time for you to restart your vacation button and make new plan by filling your bucket list with more under the radar destinations such as below:

Lombok, Indonesia

When it comes to travel destination in Indonesia, most people will be reminded of Bali. However, Bali is not the only beautiful place you can visit in Indonesia. Its neighbor island, Lombok, is low-key amazing for beach vacation. The plus point of Lombok is that it is less crowded than Bali. Hence, you can have that quiet retreat you wish for. You can explore the place by getting involved with Indonesian culture from friendly locals and enjoying the stunning scenery surrounding the island.

Anguilla, Caribbean

Caribbean might not be considered under the radar since it is actually such a popular place for a vacation. However, there are many under the radar areas in Caribbean you can opt over any other more popular ones. And one of them is Anguilla, which is a secluded spot to help you relax and unwind. No local flights from the U.S and no port for cruise ships make this place such a great place to have that tranquility. This low-key island offers luxurious retreats that feels private and intimate.

Herdade da Comporta, Portugal

This is a place where you don’t have to worry about crowded beaches. Herdade da Comporta is such a great place made up of a few beach villages along the west coast of Portugal. It is about an hour drive only from Lisbon. Even though it sounds remote, this place has various spots you can actually enjoy with modern amenities. Hence, you don’t have to worry about your accommodation since there are few more hotels being built.

Luzon, Philippines

Philippines is known for its beautiful cities. It is also a great travel destination for any types of travelers and considered budget-friendly. Luzon is one of the areas in Philippines that promises unique travel experiences. As the largest island in the country, Luzon offers amazing views of spectacular mountains, tropical rainforest, and bubbling volcano. You can head to the north of the island to learn more about more ethnic and religious diverse part of the country. Meanwhile, you can head to the south to experience the mesmerizing scenery surrounding the island effortlessly.

Guide To Do Scuba Diving Komodo

Year after year, Indonesia is ranked as the best diving country in the world, and it’s easy to see why. The Komodo National Park, which includes Komodo, Rinca, Padar, and 26 small islands, is located on the island of Flores. The park was established as a UNESCO World Heritage Site to protect the endangered Komodo Dragon and its habitat. Labuan Bajo is the entry point to the Komodo National Park. This is where the airport and the majority of the hotels are. Scuba diving Komodo is fascinating for macro photography lovers.

Guide To Do Scuba Diving Komodo

Scuba diving Komodo requirement

Komodo diving has a reputation for being only experienced divers. This is only partially correct. Some Komodo dive sites have strong currents that can be dangerous for inexperienced divers. These strong currents are responsible for Komodo’s biodiversity and provide the potential for significant action with tons of large pelagic.

You can choose the time of day and the dive sites to have more or fewer currents. If planning your dive trip, make sure to book a liveaboard or daily dive boat that is appropriate for your level.

Can beginner dive on Komodo island?

Scuba Diving Komodo is on almost every diver’s bucket list who is familiar with this legendary national park.

It is possible for complete beginners to learn to dive in Komodo and even complete their open water certification.

Most professional divers recommend that you complete your open water certification in Bali. Amed, Tulamben, or even North Bali are all options.

Komodo diving for macro photographers

Scuba diving Komodo Islands is breathtaking. There are enough nudibranchs and critters in Komodo to keep macro photographers and underwater photographers happy. The big pelagics and schools of fish that create the potential for action dives are the real reason to go diving in Komodo.

Sangean Island, located between Komodo and Lombok, is one of the favorite Nudibranch dive sites in the world. Some Komodo diving liveaboards include it in their itinerary.

South Komodo also has a few nudibranch and critter dive sites worth mentioning, but they are more difficult to reach from Labuan Bajo and usually require diving on a liveaboard.

How to diving Komodo?

Is it better to stay on a liveaboard or at a resort? There is no single answer because it is entirely dependent on your preferences.

Komodo liveaboard

The main goal of liveaboard diving is to maximize diving time. It is possible to do so on the resort itself, but it requires booking a boat ride or diving trip to the dive sites, returning to the resort, and then booking again, which can be time-consuming and costly. The Komodo National Park is a 2-hour boat ride (one way) from Labuan Bajo, making for long days if you go diving every day.

Another Komodo liveaboard option is to join an open trip package or a private trip if you go with a group. Komodo open trips will greatly save your budget and time where you can reach many dive spots.

Liveaboards are more accommodating for solo travelers scuba diving in the Komodo Islands. Many divers travel alone, and meals are usually served at a communal table, which is a great way to meet the other passengers on board. It is also easier to get to know the other passengers because everyone is on the same schedule.

Stay in Resort

If you are traveling with non-divers, they may prefer to stay in a resort. Watersports, excursions, a gym, sports, and a spa are all common amenities at resorts.

You can spend more time on the beach if you stay on one of the resort islands. You will have access to great restaurants if you stay in one of the hotels in Labuan Bajo. My favorite Italian restaurant in Indonesia is made in Italy, which is located near the Bintang resort.

Villa Development Bali & The Future of Investment in Property

Bali’s real estate industry is advantageous to you, whether it is your Bali dream villa, Bali land design of your own, development, or construction. Villa development Bali continues to grow and become an investment for foreign and domestic investors. The development of villas in Bali cannot be separated from the increasing market demand for domestic and foreign tourists. Property development, whether it’s a villa, resort, or house, requires professionals. Professional builder Bali understands how to build property on various contours of the land to prevent damage after construction is complete.

Villa Development Bali & The Future of Investment in Property

Villa development Bali – Natural disaster-free

There are several areas in Indonesia that are still prone to natural disasters. Floods, landslides, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and so on are common in Indonesia. Prevention of natural disasters, especially in Bali, an island surrounded by a sea of water is important.

The right calculation before the construction of a villa, resort, or house on the land of Bali is crucial. Installing equipment for natural disaster prevention and prevention, so that natural disasters can be handled and handled properly. The more critical the consumers are, the more the developers even provide security that is completely covered perfectly.

Most of the land in Bali is agricultural land. What if you want to build a villa in rice fields?

In fact, the best location for building a house is an area that has hard, dry soil. That way, the foundation of the house that is built can be strong and not easy to shift so that the house is safe for a long time.

The soil of former rice fields generally has a loose or soft nature. This type of soil can usually cause a house foundation that is not strong.

Usually, this type of soil is not strong enough to withstand the load and is easy to shift or sink into the soil.

Measure Soil Depth

If the land has been approved for development, the thing you need to do is measure the depth of the land used for rice fields.

If the paddy field is not very deep, the soil can be dredged or taken and then covered again using another soil that is harder.

Leveling the Ground

The next way to build the land of the former rice fields is to level the ground using the traditional method with a hoe. If the land area is so large, you can use heavy equipment to finish faster and get better results.

Ripening the Land

Soil ripening is the process of making soil ready for construction. So, after leveling the land can not be built immediately.

Usually, it will take several months for the soil to have a really hard and mature texture.

The reason is, that even though the land has been leveled, the former rice fields can still move inward.

To know the maturity of a soil is to see from the presence of plants that grow well on the land.

Install Foundation

Before going to this stage, make sure the soil is completely ripe, compacted and firm. If it’s hard, you can start building.

Another tip to build a former rice field house is to use a pile foundation.

System Bored Pile Foundation

For those of you who don’t want to use a pile foundation, you can use the bored pile system.

This method is easier than the pile. With a bored pile, the soil will be drilled at an adjusted depth.

After drilling, the new bone iron foundation will be laid out and inserted into the ground.

Tips For Taking Your First  Solo Trip More Seamlessly

Tips For Taking Your First Solo Trip More Seamlessly

Taking your first solo trip can feel so daunting. It is your first time travelling by yourself in foreign place without someone to rely on. However, there are so many benefits of it that it will be worth it anyway. The hardest challenge if solo trip is probably how to make decision, book your flight, and pack your bag. Also, solo trip experience may be different from one person to another. You may expect the same thing but the outcome can be completely different. Here are some tips to consider for a seamless first solo trip:

Pack your confidence too

Aside from packing the essentials such as travel gears, clothes, and toiletries, it is just as important to pack your confidence as well. Try adopting a secure and open posture when going out and exploring the places. When you have confidence, you will look more approachable for others. However, it won’t make you an easy target for the wrong people.

Try to blend in

You don’t want to attract unwanted attention, hence you’d better blend in with the locals. Try not to wear something that tell you are a tourist. Do a research of how the locals dress for casual occasion and pick clothes to help you blend in better. Also, talk at appropriate volume and learn to listen and watch your surroundings.

Put a smile on your face

You don’t necessarily have to smile all the time throughout the trip. However, put your best smile when interacting with the locals. It is one of the universal gesture of kindness you can share with people that don’t speak the same language. You won’t be viewed as rude or disrespectful when you smile appropriately. A smile can also lead to friendly encounter.

Be flexible and prepared with your plan

You don’t have to plan for a strict schedule for your travel plan. Be more flexible and allow space for you to catch a break from time to time. Also, be more prepared with it by having a backup plan. Carry extra cash somewhere safe in your luggage, write other alternative destinations on your itinerary, and have copies of important documents.

Let someone know

Don’t share your travel plan on social media. Instead, let someone you are close with know about it. Let them know your itinerary so they know how to track you just in case something goes wrong.

Make reservation in advance

You don’t want to wander around looking for a hotel in unknown place alone. Hence, it is best to determine your destination in advance including your accommodation. Reserve hotel room in advance so you can directly head there once you arrive at your intended destination.

Use your common sense to stay on guard

You may face various hurdles during your first solo trip so use your common sense to deal with them. If you are in doubtful situation, trust your instinct and intuition to stay safe. Stay guarded but don’t forget to have fun and make the most of your first time travelling solo.

Enjoying Beach Days Tips in Bali Beach Resort

Enjoying Beach Days Tips in Bali Beach Resort

Do you enjoy relaxing at the beach? Staying at beach resorts in Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, or other beach areas when you are visiting the sunny Bali is definitely one of the best way to spend a holiday in the island.

However, a great beach vacation necessitates planning and packing for both good and bad weather activities, bringing essentials such as sunglasses and broad-spectrum UV protection, picking up a few items to make your stay easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

Choose A Little Emptier Beach Destination

If you’re reading this, chances are you already have a destination in mind. So you’ll have to figure out when you’ll be leaving! If your family’s schedule allows, try to avoid traveling during the first few weeks of summer. In most prominent summer vacation destinations, these are the busiest weeks of the season. You’ll have a more relaxed experience and won’t get worn out by having to dodge crowds at every activity you’ve scheduled if you avoid them. That’s why we love Nusa Dua; this south coast in Bali is blessed with some of the best beaches in the island but with lesser crowds. It’s more relaxed and not as packed as other touristy regions like Kuta, Seminyak, and Canggu.

Book Your Nusa Dua Beach Resorts

Book Your Nusa Dua Beach Resorts

The next step is to book your accommodation. It might be tough to find something that fulfils the demands of your complete family while remaining within your budget and vacation style. You want everyone to have their own place, but renting many hotel rooms or a whole house might be costly! Move on to your “must haves” list once you’ve decided on the ideal rental style for your family. When searching, try viewing accommodation with oceanfront view or direct ocean view. Some hotels markets their rooms to be “close” to the beach without actually being in the beach. This to make sure you are staying in an actual beach resort and have the best access to the shore.

And to give you a head start in the search, try looking out for hotels and resorts around Nusa Dua beach, Bali

Always Bring Sun Protection to Your Beach Vacation

To ensure you don’t run out of sunscreen, purchase a new bottle and double-check the expiration date. For UVA and UVB protection, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends using a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. They recommend a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater for extended outdoor activities. If your skin is delicate or prone to acne breakouts, consider wearing two separate sunscreens, one for your face and one for your body. More and more sunscreen manufacturers are offering sensitive skin formulas for both the face and the body.

Always Reapply Your Sunscreen!

Apply at least 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside (and presumably more if you’re larger than usual) and reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming or intense sweating, according to skin cancer experts. Look for a waterproof sunscreen if you expect to spend a lot of time in the water (and don’t forget to reapply it right after you get out). Also, because water works as a reflector, increasing UV exposure, wear a waterproof sunscreen with SPF 30 and remember to get out of the water every hour or two, dry off, apply more sunscreen, and wait another 30 minutes before going back in.

Bring Zipper Bags to Store Foods and Other Stuffs

Tuck one or two large Ziploc food storage bags (or whichever brand you want) for your wet sandals or water shoes and your wet swimsuit (if there is a cabana or other changing space) into your beach tote to protect your book, towels, camera, and whatever else you carry. Sunscreen lotion, lip balm, bug repellant, adhesive bandages, and other items can be sealed in tiny or medium zippered bags to keep sand out and avoid leaks from spoiling the remainder of your beach tote or bag. Each evening, rinse them and let them dry overnight before use the next day. You can also bring some snacks from the breakfast buffet at your Bali beach resort and store them in one of the zipper bags!

Invest On High-Quality Water Sandals

Burning your feet on scorching sand or cutting your foot on a sharp rock, broken shell, or piece of trash can ruin an otherwise enjoyable holiday. Although flip flops are inexpensive, they can be unpleasant, give little to no arch support, and only last a summer or two. Get some sandals or water shoes that will give you more wear and provide more comfort and arch support. Look for nylon webbing straps that provide a snug but comfortable fit, lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying materials, cushioned insoles that provide comfort and arch support, and non-skid treads on the outsoles that will protect your sensitive soles from broken seashells or broken glass while also making you more sure-footed if you step on something.

Bring Your Beach Toys

Bring Your Beach Toys

Bring beach equipment. Why not have fun like a kid when you’re away from grownup responsibilities? Bring a kite or a child’s bucket and shovel to build sandcastle in the beach. No matter how old you are, building sandcastle is always fun!

Break Out of Your Comfort Zone

Take a break from your regular routine and do something you wouldn’t ordinarily do on vacation! Take the opportunity to make your trip even more memorable by partaking in an activity that isn’t necessarily your first pick, whether it’s ziplining or jet skiing. You’ll broaden your horizons while also adding an unforgettable memory to your life experience!

Prepare Things to Do in Rainy Days

Make plans for a rainy day, especially as Bali sits in the tropical area. Though the island is mostly sunny, being in a tropical zone means rains might suddenly

We all know you can’t anticipate the weather, but you can definitely plan for it! Have some indoor activities on hand in case the weather decides to turn on you. Having a backup plan in place can help you maintain the positive vacation vibes.

Bring Your Travel Board Games

Bring a deck of cards and a collection of travel board games. If the weather goes bad and you’re weary of reading, a game of Solitaire can keep you entertained on the Nusa Dua beach resorts where you don’t know a soul (and want to keep it that way). When traveling with one or more people, a small, portable board game set made for travel can help you pass the time when the weather turns poor (or even when the weather is great).

Learn More About Workation Where You Work While On A Vacation

We all know that the term WFH or Work From Home has made us interact with each other less and less. WFH is when you work with unlimited working hours and a noisy environment that doesn’t sufficient for working. More people have been trying to find solution to increase work productivity without causing burnout. And that is how workation was born.

Young woman working on laptop with coffee and young coconut

Implementing workation idea

Workation is a combination of working and vacationing. It is a type of vacation while working remotely. This is a type of vacation that is considered to be the most suitable for today’s circumstances. This is a different from WFH because workation allows you to feel more relaxed, and enjoy different atmosphere. So aside from work from home, you can instead work from the beach, work from hills, work from the village, etc.

How to plan for workation

Planning workation needs several consideration. Aside from choosing the most suitable place that fits your working and vacation preferences, you also need to consider your finances. Make sure that you calculate the cost you are going to spend in advance so you will be more prepared with the budget. And here are other tips to plan a workation:

Always follow the protocols

Health protocol should be incorporated into a habit no matter where you are. The covid-19 might disappear sooner and more people get vaccinated. However, it is still vital to incorporate good hygiene into your routine to keep yourself and others safe.

Pack your equipment

Aside from packing your vacation essentials such as clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and toiletries, it is also important to pack your work equipment. You may need to pack your laptop, charger, and various work-related items. Make a two separate lists of items you need to pack for vacation and work. This way, you are more organized and can tackled packing more easily.

Opt for more serene places

During your workation, it is more recommended to avoid crowded places and opt for more serene spaces instead. Aside from risking your health and safety, it may not be conducive for you to work in noisy space. You may want to hang out in a cafe while completing your work and it is just fine. Just make sure to stay safe and choose rather less-crowded cafes.

Practice mindfulness

Working and vacationing might sound interesting. However, it is also possible for workation to strain your body because you feel overwhelmed with the amount of work to complete and your vacation agenda. Hence, take breaks from time to time and practice mindfulness. You can do yoga in the morning, taking a leisure walk in the evening, or simply enjoy the nature in your surroundings.

Plan in advance

It is best to plan workation in advance. You may have to tell your employer about your plan. You may also need to make other important preparation before going somewhere for long period. Also, it is more recommended to book your accommodation and transport needed for workation plan early to get the best deals.

The Crucial Points before Choosing Bali Construction Company

It’s no surprise that travel restrictions have taken a heavy toll on Bali, a small island whose economy is almost entirely based on tourism. However, looking back decades, Bali has always been able to maintain its reputation as the world’s favorite island destination, regardless of what calamities wreaked havoc on Indonesia’s social and economic dynamic. In 2021, the Bali construction market will tell us the same story. Despite the devastating economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, many villa construction projects have begun and, interestingly, have been commissioned by foreigners. It’s crucial to find a Bali construction company if you are a foreign investor considering investing in Bali’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

Modern luxury villa exterior with infinity pool and beautiful ocean view at dawn. - bali construction company

Bali construction company and section of work

The construction of a villa in Bali certainly requires a large amount of money. The bill of quantities is divided into sections for each section of the work, such as:

  • Clearing the site and starting the project
  • Foundations
  • Structure
  • Slabs for floors
  • Walls
  • Ceilings and roof
  • Doors and windows
  • Installation of Electrical Equipment
  • Installation of Plumbing
  • Ceramic tiling on the walls and floors
  • Painting
  • Drainage
  • Provision of Water

Some Bali contractors usually specify the addition of:

  • Fees for Architects
  • Fees for Structural Engineers
  • Tax on Construction
  • Legal fees (IMB, contract fee, etc)
  • Schedule of payments Bali contractor

Payment Schedules

Now comes the crucial part: we must establish a payment schedule. We begin by saying that we will give you so much to get you started. This provides funds for the contractor to pay for materials and start-up costs.

Next, we must determine how we will continue to pay as the project progresses. We must ensure that the contractor has enough funds to continue working. Keep in mind that the contractor has a profit margin in each phase of the project.

We can use the profit margin on the work they have already completed as a down payment on the cost of the next part. This means that after each payment, you and the Bali contractor are on the same page. You have the work completed, and they have made their profit.

Before any payment, the project is inspected, and payment is made based on the actual work completed. An engineer will be required to go through the bill of quantities and check each line item to determine the percentage of completion. This is added up to give you the total financial value of the completed construction.

In the sample file, there is a column second from the right with the percentage complete entered. Which is then calculated into a monetary value for the amount of work completed in the right-hand column. With this information, some common sense you can now ensure that you are not paying more than you should.

A good Bali construction company will be aware of all of this. They will provide you with a detailed bill of quantities and will respect your desire to have progress inspections performed before releasing funds. If you are aware that you are not an assertive person, be aware that the contractor may detect this and believe that he can exploit you. It may be best to find someone to represent you when it comes to making payments, but make sure they are someone you trust.
